September 28, 2006, a company was in the process of rigging down after running 7 Magnum Mill-EZ plugs in a well owned by Gasco in the Uintah Basin of Utah. The plugs had been sold direct to Gasco by our friend and customer Steve Jameson with Packer Sales & Rental. The workover rig was rigging up to mill out the plugs when it inexplicably jumped into reverse and backed over the wellhead, breaking it off and allowing the approximately 3500psi of gas pressure that was on the wellhead to escape from the casing. The well quickly blew down to 0psi, the 7 Magnum plugs held, and a total disaster was averted. One company hand was slightly injured and required a few stitches to close his wound, but other than that, there were no other injuries to personnel. The rig is not in the best of shape, but things could have been a lot worse.
